Hobart to Port Arthur | One Way Bus

Travel on our morning bus transfer from Hobart to Port Arthur. Departs Hobart at 8.00am daily. Arrives at Port Arthur Historic Site at 9.45am. 

Itinerary

• 07:45am - Check in at Dock Head Building on Franklin Wharf, next to the Constitution Dock Lifting Bridge on Hobart's Waterfront.
• 08:00am - Bus departs 
• 08:30am - Pick-up from Hobart Airport (by prior arrangement only)
• 09:45am - Arrival at the Port Arthur Historic Site

Hobart Departure Point
The bus departs daily from the Dock Head Building on Franklin Wharf, next to the Constitution Dock Lifting Bridge on Hobart's Waterfront. Please check-in by 7.45am for an 8.00am bus departure.

About Port Arthur Historic Site
Port Arthur Historic Site is located on a beautiful harbour at the southern tip of the Tasman Peninsula, almost 100 km south-east of Hobart. Open from 9:00am until dusk.

Valid to 31st March 2020 
Entry to Port Arthur is not included in the cost of the shuttle. You can purchase entry on the day of travel at Port Arthur

• Family - $102.00 (2 Adults and up to 6 children)

Your site entry ticket gives you two consecutive days to experience the attractions and activities at Port Arthur.

Courtesy Shuttle
A courtesy shuttle service is also available for people with restricted mobility (available between 10:30am and 3:30pm each day, with an extended service offered during summer).

What to Bring

• Dress in comfortable, layered clothing
• Bring a raincoat (umbrellas are of limited use in the wind!)
• Wear comfortable shoes, suitable for walking
• Pack sunscreen and a hat
• Check the weather forecast before your visit and dress for the conditions

Visiting with young children
Parents of very young children are encouraged to pack a pram, as exploring the Site’s wide open spaces can be very tiring for youngsters. Prams are also available for hire at the Visitor Centre.

Mobility

• The Port Arthur Historic Site is extensive, and covers a range of terrain. Some areas offer independent wheelchair access, while others may require assisted access.
• The Visitor Centre, café, 1830 restaurant and the Port Arthur Gallery are all wheelchair accessible via ramps or elevator. Accessible bathroom facilities are also available within the Visitor Centre.
• While not all heritage buildings and ruins on the site are wheelchair accessible, a number of buildings can be accessed by visitors who require the use of a wheelchair. 
• The Introductory Tour and Harbour Cruise are both wheelchair accessible. However, the Ghost Tours, Isle of the Dead and Point Puer Boys’ Prison tours include rough or uneven terrain and are not recommended for people with mobility restrictions.
• Disabled parking spaces are located adjacent to the Visitor Centre entrance.
• Wheelchairs are available for loan from the Visitor Centre.
